As you all know the weather windows have been few and far between. But when the weather has allowed the fishing down at Waihau bay has been fantastic and bluefin fever has ensued.
A Friday lunchtime departure had Jared, Warren, and Blake on the road for a 9-hour drive south with R & P a custom-built cat powered by twin Mercury outboard engines in tow. Staying Thursday night in Opotiki with an earlyish start on Saturday morning had the boys out there pulling plastics. Day 1 had 3 SBT to 62Kg in the bin with the Koya lures doing the business.
Day two had another 2 fish hit the decks with Jared and Blake securing Line class records for the Tutkaka club.
All in all, it was a great weekend and the boys can’t wait for the next trip down there.
